Panasonic's AJ-HDC27H VariCam is the first high definition production camera that is capable of variable frame rate at the touch of a button.

HDC27H improvements over the HDC27F include (but are not limited to):

• An updated optical block results in greater sensitivity in the blue channel, thus reducing overall noise.
• 12-bit DSPs instead of 10-bit in the Model F, which decreases noise and increases dynamic range
• Dark compression mode - allocates more bits to dark areas of frame – especially good for Film Rec shoots where there is a lot of detail down there (also available in latest Model F upgrade, but not really useful in F since the setting would reset at each power down).
• The rear HD-SDI connector is a clean feed (no characters).
• It is now possible to output frame-lines from the side HD-SDI connector.
• Lens flare settings are now saved as part of the lens files.
• White shading info can now be saved to an SD card for later recall.
• New option to delay audio to maintain sync at 24fps.
• Slightly less power consumption of the Model H vs. the F (36W vs. 39W).
• Automatic pixel compensation on black balance.
• Manufactured with lead-free solder.
• Refined cooling system.
